Clippers Expected to Make Major Starting Lineup Change

Russell Westbrook will move to the bench, James Harden and Terance Mann will start

It was reported by Chris Haynes of Bleacher Report and NBA on TNT that LA Clippers star Russell Westbrook has requested to come off the bench. The Clippers had started 0-5 with the starting lineup of Russell Westbrook, James Harden, Paul George, Kawhi Leonard, and Ivica Zubac. That lineup in particular had struggled, and now Westbrook will head to the bench in an attempt to turn things around.

Westbrook’s willingness to do this for the Clippers says a lot about who he is as a person and a player. Since arriving to the Clippers last season, Westbrook has become a leader on and off the court, has adjusted his role several times, and even took less money to re-sign. Doing all of this despite proving in the playoffs he is still capable of monster individual performances, Westbrook has torn down the false narrative about being a “vampire” in the locker room.

For the Clippers, they certainly hope this move can jumpstart something for them, but their problems since the Harden trade have been deeper than their starting lineup. Only time will tell if this move is what gets the team on track, but something had to be done after a six-game losing streak.

Having fallen to 3-7, the Clippers need to start winning games before they fall too far down the standings.
