Even when it's the preseason, the LA Clippers somehow can't escape the injury bug.

The Clippers were resting Kawhi Leonard, Paul George, and Russell Westbrook in the final game of the preseason against the Nuggets to keep players fresh, but somehow, somehow, a player still managed to get hurt. Bones Hyland was having a phenomenal game against the Denver Nuggets on Thursday night, putting up 25 points, 7 rebounds, and 6 assists on 10/15 shooting.  No other Clipper even had more than 10 points on the floor, and it was the type of performance that showed why Bones was a capable starting guard.

Unfortunately, late in the 3rd quarter, Bones Hyland suffered a left ankle sprain and had to leave the game. He couldn't walk under the weight of his own foot and had to be helped back on the court.

It looked like Bones Hyland was going to be the de facto backup point guard for the LA Clippers come opening night, but those plans may have changed now. The bench rotation was starting to look set for the Clippers, but now things will have to change by next week. Terance Mann has been capable of playing point guard, and he'll likely have to do more of that in the absence of Bones Hyland. Hopefully, Bones' injury isn't too serious and he'll be able to join the Clippers early in the regular season.
