LA Clippers star Paul George is widely expected to miss the entire first round against the Phoenix Suns. The Clippers have officially ruled George out for Game 1, and he is the only Clippers player on the injury report for this game. The Suns also have just one player on the injury report, as backup guard Cameron Payne is being listed as questionable with low back soreness.

With George sidelined, an already difficult matchup becomes even more difficult for the Clippers. Kawhi Leonard has been playing as good as anybody over the last several months, but he will be up against a team that has yet to lose with Kevin Durant in the lineup. Leonard has a strong track record of playoff success, and he will need to be the best version of himself in this series to give the Clippers a chance.

As for Phoenix, they are favored for a reason. The addition of Kevin Durant projects to propel the Suns into a new tier, and many have them coming out of the West. Having faced the Clippers in 2021 without Kawhi Leonard, the Suns now get to face LA this postseason without Paul George. It would be a major upset if Phoenix were to allow the Clippers to win this series, especially if George does not return at any point.

Game 1 between LA and Phoenix will begin at 5:00 PM PST.
