It's been clear for months now that one of the biggest driving forces behind James Harden requesting a trade from the Philadelphia 76ers is their unwillingness to offer him the contract extension he is seeking. Whether or not Philadelphia promised him this extension remains unclear, but Harden has publicly stated that an extension is something the team clearly did not have in their plans, which helped lead to this messy divorce.

It has also been clear for months that Harden's preferred trade destination is the LA Clippers, but with minimal league-wide interest in the star guard, the Clippers have been reluctant to meet Philadelphia's asking price. During a recent episode of Gil's Arena, former Clippers forward Kenyon Martin got brutally honest about Harden and the extension he wasn't offered.

"If I'm James Harden, I can't expect them people to give me another five years for $250 million. I don't give a f--k what he promised me at the dinner table. If I'm being honest, if he tell me that sh-t, I'm leaving that meeting thinking he's a f--king liar... If I'm being honest with myself in this situation. Everything that I've put on the table the last three stops... Why would somebody sign me up for another five [years] for the maximum amount of money they could possibly give me?"

This was a brutally honest take from Martin, who spoke on the current contract dynamic between Harden and the 76ers.
