Former NBA Star Reacts to Oregon Coach Slamming Colorado
In a speech to his team, Oregon Ducks head coach Dan Lanning slammed the Colorado Buffaloes, saying they're playing for clicks while Oregon is playing for wins. Ironically, Lanning's comments have already generated a lot of clicks, which is something former LA Clippers guard Jamal Crawford called out with this Tweet:
While Lanning may have a point, it was ironic to make this statement in a setting where he was certain to generate clicks himself. That said, the Ducks have handled the Buffaloes with ease, so Lanning and his team have backed up all of their talk.
Another reason many are pushing back against Lanning's comments, is because Colorado has already surpassed their win total from last season. While their program has of course generated a significant amount of media coverage, or "clicks" as Lanning called it, this is far from their only focus. Had the Buffaloes started 0-3 as opposed to 3-0, the media coverage would not be close to what it has been.
All of that said, this has been somewhat of a wakeup call for Colorado, as they have been overmatched by an Oregon team that looks better in every single way. All of the outside talk generates attention, but the game is played on the field, and Oregon has been much better in this one. Lanning's comments have already sparked some controversy, and it will be interesting to see who continues to weigh in on them.
