James Harden Surpasses NBA Legend on Historic List
Lost in all of the recent negative press toward James Harden is the fact that he's one of the greatest offensive players in NBA history. After Wednesday night against the San Antonio Spurs, Harden added another reason to the list.
On Wednesday, James Harden surpassed Patrick Ewing for the 24th spot on the NBA's all-time scoring list. As of today, Harden has 24,821 points and Patrick Ewing has 24,815 points.
Up next on the list for the 23rd spot is Jerry West with 25,192 points. Harden is only 371 points away from West's spot, and he could very easily surpass him this season with the current pace he's at. If Harden were to play the rest of the 69 games this season, he would only have to average 5.38 points a game to surpass Jerry West.
Granted, Harden won't be scoring at the same prowess he did before joining the Clippers, but he's very easily going to score more than 5.38 points a game. If James Harden was healthy and kept his current pace, then he could possibly surpass Vince Carter and enter the top 20 of the NBA's scoring list.
What's more important than the scoring list for Harden and the Clippers is the fact that the team is on a three-game winning streak right now. After an incredibly bumpy start, the Clippers are finally starting to get themselves on the right track.
