Kawhi Leonard Gets Honest About Lakers vs Clippers Rivalry
If there's one person who doesn't talk much about the Lakers vs Clippers rivalry, it's Kawhi Leonard. He's someone who doesn't even use social media or sees the banter online, but he knows it's always a special occasion.
After the Clippers defeated the Lakers on Tuesday night, Leonard was asked about how he's seen the rivalry evolve over time, and he thinks it'll only keep getting bigger.
"I think it's been a big thing since the Clippers came into LA," Leonard said. "It's just going to keep building up over time, especially when you got great players on both teams. It makes it a lot better. It's just been like that since I was little."
The word rivalry is a very interesting term to describe the connection between the LA Clippers and the Los Angeles Lakers. The two teams have never faced each other in the playoffs, the Lakers have 17 championships to the Clippers 0, but the Clippers have absolutely demolished the Lakers 31-8 over the last decade and even won more games inside of Staples Center / Crypto.com Arena against them.
It's more like a rivalry strictly because they play in the same building, and not for any other reason. The Lakers and Clippers don't have the same level of disdain for each other the way the Clippers and Suns do, or Lakers and Nuggets do. Still, it'll always be fascinating to see two teams from the same city play against each other.
