When the LA Clippers signed Russell Westbrook last season, the veteran point guard instantly became a leader on and off the court. Speaking up in practices, games, and in the locker room, Westbrook brought the best out of his teammates, including All-Stars Kawhi Leonard and Paul George.

Having played with Westbrook in Oklahoma City, George was one of the strongest advocates for bringing him to the Clippers. That advocacy remained throughout the summer, as George wanted Westbrook to re-sign. Leonard also spoke openly about how much easier Westbrook made things for him and the team, and recently reacted to the Clippers re-signing the 2017 MVP.

"It's very important having him back… Now we got a Hall-of-Fame point guard that's been through it. I think that's going to be big for us coming into the year," Leonard said in a snippet from KTLA's upcoming Clippers Clipboard interview.

The Clippers began last season with a point guard rotation of Reggie Jackson and John Wall, who were both traded at the deadline. Wall was not signed after being waived, and Jackson quickly fell out of Denver's rotation after continuing the poor play he had in LA. It cannot be overstated how much of an upgrade Westbrook is for the Clippers at that spot, and having him with the team from day one should have a massive impact.
