Kyrie Irving Shares Strong Message About Russell Westbrook
While some have attempted to alter the national perception of Russell Westbrook, the LA Clippers guard has the ultimate respect from his peers. An inspiration for so many, Westbrook is very highly regarded around the NBA. Dallas Mavericks star Kyrie Irving recently made that clear, sharing this message about Westbrook on Instagram:
Irving is absolutely correct, and is speaking from experience. One of the many players who came into the league looking up to Westbrook, Irving debuted in 2011. By then, Westbrook had already made his first All-NBA team, and was establishing himself as one of the games brightest stars. For players younger than Irving, they came into the league having seen Westbrook accomplish even more.
While Westbrook's accomplishments are extensive, and in many ways unrivaled, his approach to the game is what Irving is primarily speaking about. Inspiring players to do things their way, and ignore all of the outside noise, Westbrook has been the perfect example of that for his entire career. Often dealing with criticism, Westbrook has stayed true to himself, which is something Irving shared an appreciation for.
Now a member of the Clippers, Westbrook is hoping to help them win their first championship in franchise history. While the criticism of his game has persisted even this late into his career, Westbrook has remained consistent in who he is, which is something so many people appreciate.
