Latest Update on Possible Jrue Holiday to Clippers Trade
During an appearance on ESPN's NBA Today, insider Adrian Wojnarowski broke down a possible Jrue Holiday to the LA Clippers trade. While Wojnarowski revealed the Clippers do have interest in Holiday, he is not sure they can be the highest bidder for the two-way guard. That said, Wojnarowski believes the Clippers could use this situation to possibly land James Harden, Malcolm Brodgon, or Holiday himself.
Whether it's Harden, Holiday, or somebody else, this feels like a very unique opportunity for the Clippers to upgrade their roster before the season begins - and possibly even before training camp. With multiple expiring contracts still on their roster, the Clippers have the salary pieces to make almost any deal work. A trade getting done will of course come down to what else the Clippers are willing to pair with those expiring deals to bring in a player like Harden or Holiday.
While the Clippers have a much better roster now than they did at this point last season, there are still some obvious holes that would seemingly need to be filled before this team is considered a legitimate championship contender. With the most notable being their starting power forward spot, the Clippers dealing for a high-level guard like Holiday or Harden could allow them to slide Paul George and Kawhi Leonard up one spot to create a dominant starting group.
