The Dallas Mavericks defeated LA Clippers on Friday night behind another dominant performance from Luka Doncic. While LA has mostly gotten the better of Dallas in their head to head matchups since Doncic entered the league, his individual numbers have been unparalleled when facing the Clippers.

Notching his 10th 40-point game vs. the Clippers on Friday night, Doncic became the first player in NBA history with at least 10 40-point games vs. the Clippers. The next closest players are Kobe Bryant, Steph Curry, and Kevin Durant, who each have seven.

This is just one of a few ways Doncic made history on Friday night, with another being his combination of points and efficiency, as the Mavericks star became the first player in franchise history to score at least 40 points on 80% or better from the field.

The Clippers began this game with a different approach on Doncic than they have used in previous seasons, having Russell Westbrook fight through screens to not surrender the Ivica Zubac switch so easily, and then sending help if needed. This strategy quickly fell apart when the Clippers went to a small lineup in the second quarter that helped get Doncic going, as the star scored 17 points on 6/7 shooting in that frame alone.

The Clippers are now 0-3 in the James Harden era, and will look to get their first win since the trade on Sunday vs. Memphis.
