Major Update on James Harden to Clippers Trade Revealed
During an appearance on ESPN, insider Adrian Wojnarowski revealed the LA Clippers are pausing James Harden trade talks with the Philadelphia 76ers.
"At least for the foreseeable future, the Clippers are stepping back from these trade talks about James Harden. They are essentially pausing them... The Clippers may revisit this at some point," Wojnarowski said.
This makes sense, at least for now, as the Clippers just went through an entire training camp with their current group of players - which included naming Terance Mann their 5th starter next to Russell Westbrook, Paul George, Kawhi Leonard, and Ivica Zubac.
While the Clippers likely still want Harden on their team, undoing all of that training camp progress without seeing what this current group could do would be a very difficult way to start the season. With the 76ers not having many offers for Harden outside of the Clippers, it makes sense for LA to give their current group a look - while possibly allowing Philadelphia to grow more desperate to deal Harden.
Not willing to meet Philadelphia's current asking price, the Clippers are going to pause trade talks for now while they let this situation play out further. While this may come as a surprise to some, given LA's reported interest all summer, this feels like the right move for a Clippers team that can't afford to mishandle this situation.
