Paul George Gets Honest About Shai Gilgeous-Alexander Trade
When the LA Clippers traded Shai Gilgeous-Alexander for Paul George, Danilo Gallinari, and multiple first-round picks, it became one of the most polarizing trades in NBA history. To this day, fans still talk about whether the trade was worth it.
For Paul George, he believes both sides won the trade.
After the Clippers defeated the Oklahoma City Thunder behind Paul George's 38-point performance, George was asked to reflect on the trade that brought him to the Clippers.
“I just think both sides won," George said. "I did think it was quite a lot that the Clippers were willing to give up. Their commitment to me is my commitment to them. Very appreciative to them for going out and grabbing me."
For what it's worth, George also admitted that one could argue that the Oklahoma City Thunder won the trade. Mainly from the standpoint that not only did they get an MVP-caliber player, but they also received picks.
"Shai, when that trade first happened, we knew Shai was going to be really, really, good, but he's special," George said. "I guess in a way, Oklahoma won that trade with the picks and future MVP, but both sides won."
It seems like no matter what happens, critics will find ways to blast the Clippers unless they win a championship. It doesn't matter that the Thunder have never won a playoff series since then, but I guess the criticism only goes to one side.
