Scoot Henderson struggled tremendously in his NBA debut against the LA Clippers last night. Despite the struggle, Clippers All-Star Paul George still believes in him and knows that the number three pick will be a great player.

After the Clippers defeated the Portland Trail Blazers on opening night, George took some time postgame to praise Scoot Henderson.

"This is not a game to judge him on," George said. "It's his first game, he's a helluva talent. You can tell he's going to be good. I'm a fan of his game, I like his game. I've seen him and watched him for a while now."

In his first game, Henderson put up 11 points, 4 assists, and 3 rebounds on 5/11 shooting from the field. It's important to note that most of Scoot's points were doing the final minutes of garbage time. For the majority of the game, Scoot struggled greatly.

"It's like that, his first game, figuring it out," George said. "Granted, he went against a top 5 defense in the NBA. We were going to be tough. He saw myself, Kawhi, Russ, RoCo, just so many defenders were going at him. I feel like he didn't really get a rhythm of how to attack and how to play. But he's going to be good, he's under a great coach in Chauncey. He's going to have him right. I just thought he was great being aggressive."

Not every great player is amazing from day one. Not everyone can be like Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, or LeBron James. Even Kobe Bryant wasn't amazing from the get-go. The best thing Scoot Henderson can do is not get discouraged, learn from his mistakes, and listen to a successful veteran like Paul George.
