Report: LA Clippers Stars to Meet With Russell Westbrook /

Should Russell Westbrook complete a buyout with the Utah Jazz, the LA Clippers have been heavily linked to the veteran point guard, especially since Paul George publicly advocated for his former teammate. With several reports indicating mutual interest between the two sides, it now seems as if the rumors have gained some real traction. In a recent report from The Athletic's Law Murray, it was revealed that Kawhi Leonard and Paul George are expected to meet with Westbrook soon.

"As The Athletic reported Thursday, LA received permission to speak to Westbrook and talks have started among franchise officials," Murray wrote. "In that meeting, the two parties communicated what Westbrook’s role could be. Westbrook is set to meet with Paul George and Kawhi Leonard in the near future as he continues to mull over his options prior to the March 1 playoff eligibility waiver deadline."

The mutual interest between Westbrook and the Clippers seems to be legitimate; however, there may be a disconnect about the size of his role. Not in a position to offer Westbrook the role he may be seeking, the Clippers would have to sign the veteran point guard with the mutual understanding that the size of his role is not guaranteed. Should the Clippers sense any issue from Westbrook on that front, it would make sense to go a different direction.

For now, the team's two stars are reportedly set to meet with Westbrook soon.
