Russell Westbrook's Amazing Statement After Comeback Win
Not many NBA players have the genuine joy for the game of basketball that Russell Westbrook does. He plays with a certain tenacity and energy that comes from his love of the game, and it's hardly ever matched.
Sunday's game against the Brooklyn Nets was the perfect example of that.
After the game, Westbrook was asked by AllClippers about the joy he plays with, especially the joy the Clippers had during their 22-0 run against the Nets in the fourth. His response was a very long, and expressive answer that not many could give.
"The most important thing about sports, in my opinion, is having fun," Westbrook said. "I tell my son that all the time... You can compete and you can miss and make shots, turnovers, all of that stuff is going to come win, lose, or draw. But the joy that this game brings...is so important."
The Clippers had a sold-out crowd of 19,730 today against the Brooklyn Nets on a Sunday afternoon, and the fans were rewarded for all the energy they brought. It was something that Westbrook wanted to make sure of.
"For me, the joy, the energy, is so important," Westbrook said. "Our bench, our fans were so great to instill that with us. It was so much fun to be on the floor."
There have been countless scenarios where the Clippers lose the type of game they won today. Four days of rest, against a young team, and in the morning, had all the makings of a trap game - consider the script flipped
