Portland Trail Blazers rookie Scoot Henderson made his NBA debut on Wednesday night, and it came against one of his childhood heroes. Henderson grew up watching LA Clippers point guard Russell Westbrook, which is something his head coach admitted before the game might be emotional for him in his first NBA game.

Speaking with reporters after the game, Henderson said, "It was cool. I think as a team we wanted to get back in transition. He did have a couple times where he got up in transition and was able to make a play. But it was an experience, it was an experience for sure. Just to play my first game. Not the fact that it was [against] one of the players that I always watched growing up, but I'm here now. I can't really look too much into that."

Recognizing that he is here for a reason, Henderson did not want to focus too much on the individual matchup between he and Westbrook, even though the Trail Blazers guard grew up watching the former MVP. Struggling a bit in his debut, Henderson recognizes the ways he can improve going forward, and will certainly make the necessary adjustments as his first season goes on.

Playing against Westbrook was an experience for Henderson, but one he did not want to get too caught up with in his first game.
