While LA Clippers star Russell Westbrook did not play in the Hawaii preseason opener vs. the Utah Jazz, he received a massive ovation from the fans in attendance when showed on the Jumbotron. After a "We want Westbrook" chant broke out in the Stan Sheriff Center, Westbrook was shown on the big screen and received a roaring ovation from the fans in attendance:

The decision to rest Westbrook was made by head coach Ty Lue, who also held out veteran forward Nicolas Batum for rest. Taking care of LA's older players, Lue wants to ease them into the preseason after a very hard training camp that placed a strong emphasis on conditioning.

This is a massive season for the Clippers, and one they want to get started the right way. Again with championship expectations, the Clippers hope the addition of Westbrook, along with the returns of Kawhi Leonard and Paul George, are enough to get this team over the hump.

The Clippers fell in their preseason opener to the Jazz, but only played their main rotation players in the first half. Not worried about wins and losses at this point in the preseason, the Clippers are just looking to get everyone up to speed while entering the new season fully healthy. While Westbrook did not play, he was probably the biggest fan favorite in the building.
