NBA Draft Scouting Report: Arizona's Kylan Boswell
Kylan Boswell
Guard | Arizona
Height: 6'2” | Weight: 195 lbs
2024 Draft Age: 19.17
Prospect Profile
The youngest player in college basketball last season, Boswell finished his freshman season at 17 years old. In year two at Arizona, he will look to break out and be selected in the 2024 NBA Draft.
Boswell was coming off of an injury entering his freshman year, so took some time to get back in game shape and in the rotation. Regardless, he’s a huge competitor and made a tremendous impact on winning despite playing a limited role. The Arizona guard took the floor for roughly 15 minutes per game (just over 500 minutes total) and came off the bench in every appearance.
Although he doesn’t have great positional size, Boswell does has a very sturdy frame. He’s the type of player that could easily continue to get stronger and have even more of an NBA ready body by draft night. He has a smooth jumper and knocked down 39% of his triples last season. With solid mechanics and the ability to hit shots on the move, that’s a very translatable skill for him moving forward.
When the ball is in his hands, Boswell is quick and shifty. He is good at getting to the rim and finishes well in the paint. In his sophomore season, one area of improvement should be drawing fouls and getting to the line. The 18-year-old is a solid passer, but wasn’t a high assist guy in limited action.
In terms of rebounding, Boswell was mostly a non-factor on the glass, which is something he should focus on this season. Although he’s a guard, showcasing the ability to pull down rebounds and producing in other ways will be important.
Defensively, Boswell is pesky at the point of attack. He has no problem getting into the player he’s defending and making life difficult for them. Both on and off the ball, he projects to be someone who generates a ton of steals and deflections. A lot of it comes down to effort, which Boswell shows.
A former five-star recruit, Boswell should have a good chance of being selected in 2024 NBA Draft if he can stay healthy and put together a quality season. He will have just turned 19 years old on the night of the event despite playing two college seasons.
