NBA Draft Scouting Report: Colorado’s Tristan da Silva
Tristan da Silva
Forward | Colorado
Height: 6’9” | Weight: 215 lbs
2024 Draft Age: 23.10
Prospect Profile
A modern forward archetype, da Silva has developed into a really good 3-point shooter during his three college seasons. Positional shooting is valued at the NBA level, which fares well for the German prospect.
As a junior, da Silva earned All-Pac-12 honors as one of the more productive players in the conference. He has great shooting touch from both deep and in the midrange, which makes him a unique player. On the flip side, he’s not the most physical and won’t be able to get away with as much in the paint once he makes the jump to the NBA. The 6-foot-9 forward is pretty wiry and will likely be more perimeter-oriented at the next level.
As a shooter overall, da Silva is much more than a rhythm guy. He uses pump fakes and jabs well to get his defender in the air or off balance for a quick one or two dribble move into a jumper. He’s patient with the ball in his hands and is much more finesse than he is power.
While da Silva is a decent rebounder, he’s certainly not elite on the glass. Furthermore, he’s shown some passing upside, especially for a forward, but isn’t known for being an offensive hub. He theoretically has defensive versatility given his size and balance, but looks lost at times on that end. It will be very interesting to see how he fares defensively at the next level since he lacks the strength to contain many frontcourt players and also doesn’t have the speed to stay in front of quicker guards and wings.
His brother brother, Oscar, was an All-Pac-12 forward at Stanford from 2017-21 and is now playing for FC Barcelona in Spain. Tristan da Silva will look to follow in his footsteps in playing beyond the college level, as early as the summer of 2024 after withdrawing from the pre-draft process in 2023.
