Prospect Profile

Richard is a combo guard in terms of skillset, but at this point is best suited in an off-ball role. He doesn’t have the tools to truly be an elite lead guard as of today, but could run point at the NBA level situationally. He’s known as a 3-and-D prospect and has the length to slide up and play against bigger wings.

Following a solid freshman season at Belmont, Richard transferred to Florida and thrived. He takes and makes a ton of triples, converting on nearly 40% of his four attempts per game. He’s also a very good free throw shooter and his mechanics are great on all jumpers. There’s reason for optimism around his ability to shoot it at the next level.

With that in mind, he’s also efficient from other parts of the floor, too. He shot almost 62% from inside the arc last season and proved to be a three-level scorer. Richard notched a 64.5% true shooting mark as a sophomore. He is also a good positional rebounder, continuing to show how many ways he can produce for a team. While he doesn’t have elite pure point guard skills, Richard does take good care of the ball and ensured he stayed under one turnover per game last season.

On the defensive end, Richard is physical and has a very long wingspan for his height. He’s also is very competitive on that end and is disruptive in passing lanes. He puts in the effort on that end, which is half of the battle. The expectation is that he’ll be able to defend three positions in the NBA.

In what could be a breakout third college season, Richard will play alongside Riley Kugel in the backcourt yet again, who also has the chance of being a first-round pick. This will form one of the better guard duos in the SEC.
