Prospect Profile

A combo guard with the ability to space the floor, Kelly has good positional size. He broke out as a sophomore in many aspects of his game which led to more of a role and playing time in year two. He led Georgia Tech in scoring, but should only improve once again this season.

Kelly is a great shooter and advanced scorer with a smooth jumper. His 3-point efficiency improved year-over-year which was impressive especially considering the jump in volume. If he can continue to get better and flirt with 40% from beyond the arc this season and maintain the attempts, he could be one of the best shooters in the country. Kelly has deep range and can shoot in a variety of situations whether it’s spotting up, on the move or off the dribble. He’s also an elite free throw shooter which should only make teams feel better about his long-term shooting upside from all over the floor.

While he projects to be an off-ball guard at the next level, Kelly can make things happen with the ball in his hands and can also distribute fairly well. Especially given he will be a bench player early in his NBA career, that’s a great secondary skill to have.

The Georgia Tech guard has a slender build, but has the frame that certainly projects to fill out more. Kelly is an average defender as of today, but has the size to be versatile if he can emerge as even somewhat of a plus defender.

At the next level, Kelly likely won’t be the type of player that leads his team in scoring, but absolutely has the upside to be a valuable floor spacer that can get hot and produce points in a hurry off the bench. He declared for 2023 NBA Draft, but opted to come back for third season at the college level.

The former four-star recruit has the chance to continue showcasing his game and develop into a second-round prospect in the 2024 NBA Draft, especially if his next jump is anywhere near as signifiant as it was between first two seasons.
