Silas Demary

Prospect Profile

Demary Jr. is a talented 6-foot-4 guard capable of creating rim pressure and creating opportunities for teammates. He's a controlled driver who has also shown potential as a primary playmaker. Statistically, he averaged 13.9 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 5.7 assists per game for Combine Academy this past season.

One area of improvement offensively for Demary Jr. is his verticality at the rim, which would help with finishing at times. While this is a great play from the rim protector in the clip below, adding verticality to his attempts at the rim could be beneficial.

Defensively, the 6-foot-4 guard has very active hands on-ball. He averaged a whopping 1.8 steals per game during his final high school season and his combination of strength and lateral quickness shows up on the defensive side of the ball.

The defensive side of the ball is truly an area in which Demary Jr. can really make a name for himself and increase draft stock. Football is something that's close to home for the Demary family, as his father Silas Demary Sr. played defensive line professionally in the AFL. Demary Jr.'s football background impacts the way he takes pride in the defensive side of the ball in basketball.

"Coming from playing football," he told Draft Digest. "I played defensive back so I always wanted to get a stop. At my size, I'm grateful to have great hips the way I can turn and stay with smaller guards. Defense to me gets me going early in the game. Getting something in the passing lane, rotating and getting stops gets the team going. Stops lead to transition offense as well and can shift momentum."

Overall, Demary Jr. is undoubtedly a potential NBA prospect to watch that is not on many radars at the moment. His blend of second-gear speed and strength driving, potential playmaking ability and defensive disruption he offers as a 6-foot-4 guard is intriguing.

A former four-star recruit, Demary Jr. clearly has the talent to make it to the NBA level. He won’t turn 20 until after the 2024 NBA Draft, so if he ends up being a one-and-done prospect, he still will be fairly young for his level of experience.
