Prospect Profile

A left-handed incoming freshman at Maryland, Harris-Smith is a great athlete with a ton of bounce. He’s best suited as an off-ball guard or wing with his skillset and size.

What makes Harris-Smith special is the edge and fire he brings. He’s unique in his desire to win at all costs and plays a passionate game. You’ll always get full effort from the freshman and he’s willing to do the little things to win. Harris-Smith impacts the game in so many ways, so doesn’t have to be a primary scorer to provide value. With that in mind, he does have the ability to produce points in a variety of ways.

Harris-Smith is best when getting to the rim. Whether that’s in transition or driving in halfcourt situations, his athleticism and strength allows him to finish strong. With that in mind, he definitely prefers to use his left hand and will need to improve with his right. As a shooter, Harris-Smith’s success from beyond the arc has fluctuated over the years. He likely will need to improve his mechanics to become a more consistent and reliable shooter from deep.

Overall, Harris-Smith’s motor and nose for the ball often puts him in the right spots, especially on the glass. He’s a very good positional rebounder and a solid defender from these two traits alone. He leverages his physical frame and energy to make winning plays on defense, with the size to defend three positions moving forward.

The former four-star recruit played in some very big events at high school level. He isn’t a prospect that has an elite skillset, but will outwork anyone and do what he’s asked by the coaching staff. These are the types of players that generally have a good chance at making it to the NBA, especially if Harris-Smith can refine some of his skills at Maryland.
