Prospect Profile

Some of the best guards in the league are the size of forwards, which is exactly the archetype that Flowers fits. He’s essentially a wing with guard skills that will have all of the makings of the perfect NBA contributor. Although he was initially set to go to Louisville to play college ball, he pivoted to go the NBL route and will play professionally for a season ahead of the 2024 NBA Draft.

Flowers is a great athlete and a lethal playmaker in transition. The next step for him will be emerging as more of a lead facilitator in halfcourt situations. This comes down to decision making and having the opportunity to get reps as more of a lead guard in the upcoming season. If the game starts to slow down and he can process it at a higher rate, his draft stock will skyrocket.

Although he’s best at getting to rim, Flowers can step out and shoot it as well. He’s certainly not an elite shooter from deep, but has the foundation to improve on that front. He has smooth mechanics, but could use minor tweaks in his form to ensure more consistent results. Similar to the decision making, the NBL prospect’s perimeter shooting will be a major swing skill this season.

Flowers is a really good positional rebounder. Between that and the passing upside, he’ll be a triple-double threat this season. At minimum, he will almost always flirt with a double-double with points and either assists or boards. Defensively, his size and intangibles really should allow him to guard four positions at the next level. He has the height of many power forwards but boasts the lateral quickness and length to stay in front of guards.

A former five-star recruit, Flowers will play for the Adelaide 36ers this season, which is where Josh Giddey played before making the jump to the NBA. The Thunder’s rising star is actually a player that Flowers has said he models his game after, which is interesting given how similar their games are. Overall, the NBL will have a loaded group of talent playing this season with hopes of entering the 2024 NBA Draft with prospects like Flowers, A.J. Johnson (Illawarra), Alex Sarr (Perth) Alex Toohey (Sydney), and Bobi Klintman (Cairns).
