Prospect Profile

Porter has a skillset that is well suited for the modern NBA, with a fluid game at 6-foot-11 and the ability to space the floor. Following in the footsteps of his brothers Michael Porter Jr. (Denver Nuggets) and Jontay Porter (Wisconsin Herd), he will look to be the next member of the family to make it to the NBA.

As a freshman at Pepperdine, Porter had an incredibly impactful season and played a large role en route to All-WCC Freshman Team honors. He's the perfect stretch forward with the height of a center, but a reliable jumper that allows him to play alongside another big given he can operate further from the basket. After averaging 12 points and seven boards last season, he will look to continue to be a double-double machine in a potential breakout sophomore campaign.

Porter can shoot the ball very well spotting up, but also on the move. He has a quick, smooth release and shoots it without hesitation. The confidence he has in his jumper is impressive given he's nearly 7-feet tall. The Pepperdine sophomore is also a reliable free throw shooter, which will allow him to close games at the next level.

On the defensive side of the ball, Porter uses his length and IQ very well. It's clear he's been well coached growing up given the way he understands how to play defense. Last season as a freshman he was extremely disruptive, nearly producing a steal and block per contest.

With 3-and-D upside, Porter was the only Division I freshman 6-foot-10 or taller to shoot 35% from deep and notch a 75 DSI according to Cerebro Sports.

Not only did both of Porter's brothers make it to the NBA, but his father Michael Porter Sr. (University of New Orleans) and mother Lisa Porter (Iowa) both played at the college level. The pedigree of the Porter family is clearly there, which is always something that's worth buying stock in.
