NBA Draft Scouting Report: TCU's Emanuel Miller
Emanuel Miller
Wing | TCU
Height: 6'7” | Weight: 215 lbs
2024 Draft Age: 24.01
Prospect Profile
After four impressive college seasons split between Texas A&M and TCU, Miller is back in school for a fifth year before making the leap to the NBA. He was often the most impactful player for TCU last season despite not being the most flashy or the highest scorer, which speaks to the value he provides on the court.
With a great motor combined with good size and length, Miller has clear NBA upside. On the defensive end, he showed versatility last season taking on bigger players in the paint, but also spent time on guards. To make up for the lack of lateral quickness relative to some of the quicker guards, he showcased good footwork, positioning and IQ to make up for it.
Offensively, there’s quite a bit he wasn’t able to show as often as we would have liked, but that could be a function of the system he played in. With some of the other personnel on the roster, he wasn’t asked to be a primary scorer every night. However, as a sophomore at Texas A&M he averaged more than 16 points per game. It’s all about situations, and Miller has thrived in multiple.
Perhaps the most promising development for Miller as a senior was the perimeter shooting. He converted on nearly 40% of his 3-pointers, even if it was on limited volume. Combine that with solid mechanics and it’s easy to see a world in which he develops into a 3-and-D wing at the next level on more attempts.
The 22-year-old has the upside to be a double-double machine with his ability to clean the glass. Sometimes the prospects that are really good at a particular role translate very well in the NBA. That could easily be the case for Miller, who knows his role and how to impact winning in doing so.
The two-time All-Big 12 Honorable Mention is one of three players from TCU who tested draft waters in 2023. Especially with how many versatile forwards have continued to prove they are critical pieces to a playoff rotation, his archetype should be very coveted in the draft. While he ultimately pulled out last year during the pre-draft process, he still has a shot to make it in the 2024 NBA Draft.
Emanuel’s younger brother, Leonard Miller, was a first-round talent out of the G League Ignite program in the 2023 NBA Draft class.
