Cameron Carr, Tennessee

Prospect Profile

A combo guard that’s known for being a quality perimeter shooter, Carr is a potential one-and-done prospect set to make an immediate impact at Tennessee. Not only does he have good height, but he boasts a 7-foot-1 wingspan which really opens things up for him on both ends.

When it comes to shooting, Carr has a chance to be one of the best in the country. He has a quick, smooth release and can knock down shots in any situation. Whether it’s as a floor spacer off-ball or generating a jumper for himself, the Tennessee prospect is a walking bucket. From there, he can also attack the rim effectively with a package of moves to create for himself and score both in the paint and in midrange situations. As he continues to get stronger, his ability to drive to the basket will only get better. When he does get to the rim, the freshman can finish with touch or power and has the ability to play above the rim.

Defensively, Carr could end up being a very versatile defender at the next level. Not only is he a tall guard, but he’s incredibly long. This should allow him to take on either guard position as well as wings. He’s a disrupter on that end of the floor and can really make things happen. If he can really make an impact in year one on defense, his draft stock could really skyrocket.

The former four-star recruit played at Link Academy in high school, which was one of the best schools in the country last season. He’s always played against a very high level of competition. He also has the pedigree of a professional basketball player, as his father was a guard at Southern Illinois then NBA. Furthermore, his sister played college basketball, most recently at Arkansas.

Whether it's this summer or further down the road if he requires more than one college season, Carr absolutely has the tools to be a very impactful NBA player. At minimum, he projects to be a solid 3-and-D role player that slots into a rotation easily.
