NBA Draft Scouting Report: Tennessee's Freddie Dilione
Freddie Dilione
Guard | Tennessee
Height: 6'5” | Weight: 180 lbs
2024 Draft Age: 20.19
Prospect Profile
A well-rounded combo guard, Dilione is set to make an early impact at Tennessee this season. He graduated high school early and enrolled in college in January of 2023, taking a redshirt for the remainder of the 2022-23 season while practicing and traveling with the team. He has a great motor and contagious energy that should impact both ends of the floor.
Dilione is a prospect that can not only score, but also facilitate. He plays with good pace, letting game come to him and rarely getting sped up. This should prove to be valuable for the Vols this season as he plays with the ball in his hands. The first-year player is a good passer that will act as an offensive catalyst in multiple ways.
When he’s not distributing the ball, Dilione is a capable scorer that is great at getting to his spots. He has the ability to create for himself and isn’t afraid of the big moments. If his team needs a bucket late in a game, he has the composure to make that happen. He is more shifty than explosive and plays with craft over athleticism a lot of the time. Dilione will need to show he can shoot the ball from the perimeter this season to improve his draft stock. His form and mechanics look fine, but he hasn’t been a willing volume shooter to date. It could come down to opportunity on that end of the floor in year one.
The Tennessee is prospect is a good positional rebounder and truly has the ability to flirt with a triple-double when how productive some of his outputs are. A top-25 recruit in his high school class, he should prove to be one of the best young players in the county this season. Whether it's a one-and-done situation or being a multi-year college athlete, Dilione has real NBA upside.
