Prospect Profile

An incoming freshman at UCLA, Vide is a young but promising prospect. He will start his first college season at 18 years old and is a potential one-and-done. A triple-double threat, he’s a quality scorer that can also pass and rebound well for his position.

Offensively, Vide loves the midrange. He has a good spin move and effective euro step, but also can back down smaller defenders given he is 6-foot-6. He has good touch on floaters, but can also finish well with both hands when getting all the way to the rim. The UCLA freshman is a smart cutter too, which generates easy looks for him.

At this point, Vide’s jumper is pretty unorthodox, especially as he gets further from the rim. The fluidity in his shot isn’t there and he has a quick, but low release. He also doesn’t have a squared up base often times, so altogether the shot projects to be inconsistent in its current state. The transfer of energy and overall mechanics may need to be tweaked. Vide doesn’t seem all that comfortable shooting it from the perimeter today — which allows defenses to sag off and prevent the drive — but he is much better on midrange jumpers closer to the basket.

Defensively, Vide has the size to guard multiple positions and is already starting to fill out his frame. That end of the floor will be something NBA teams are keeping an eye on at the collegiate level this season.

One of the up and coming prospects from Slovenia, Vide was one of the top scorers at the FIBA U19 World Cup in the summer of 2023 and just before that won MVP of the Adidas Next Generation Tournament. He appears to be the next jumbo guard that will be a key piece of senior national team for a long time alongside Luka Doncic.

This season at UCLA, he will have the chance to play alongside quite a few other potential future NBA players in Adem Bona, Berke Buyuktunce and Aday Mara.
