BREAKING: Major Memphis Grizzlies News /

It was announced by ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski on Saturday afternoon that Memphis Grizzlies assistant Darko Rajakovic is being hired as the next head coach of the Toronto Raptors. In a series of Tweets, Wojnarowski wrote the following:

"ESPN Sources: The Toronto Raptors are finalizing a deal to hire Memphis Grizzlies assistant Darko Rajakovic as the franchise’s next coach. Rajakovic, a native of Serbia, emerged out of an exhaustive Raptors process to sell Raptors president Masai Ujiri and GM Bobby Webster on his candidacy to replace Nick Nurse. The Serbian native had been a G League head coach and assistant with OKC and had a stop with the Suns on way to elevating into a top assistant for Taylor Jenkins and the Grizzlies."

This is major news for both the Memphis Grizzlies and Toronto Raptors, as the Grizzlies lose a top assistant, while the Raptors fill their head coaching vacancy. It has been a wild offseason already for both teams, and it's likely just getting started.

Rajakovic will take over a job that could be changing a lot this summer. It is currently unclear what direction the Raptors are choosing to go with their team, but many believe the could finally be hitting the reset button. With a lot of quality veteran players, Toronto could kickstart their rebuild with some solid trade packages - along with a brand new coach.
