It has been widely reported that Chris Paul and the Phoenix Suns are working through several different options for his future. Should the veteran point guard become available, Chris Mannix of Sports Illustrated named the Memphis Grizzlies, LA Clippers, Los Angeles Lakers, Boston Celtics, and even the Miami Heat as potential suitors.

On the Memphis front, Mannix said they should be aggressive, which makes sense given where they are right now. With Ja Morante expected to serve a lengthy suspension to begin the 2023-24 season, the Grizzlies will need additional ball-handling help. This is of course a role Paul could fill, while observing a bench role once Morant returns.

Paul would also be a veteran presence for the Grizzlies, which is something many people believe they desperately need. While his on-court contributions may not be significant enough to take Memphis from first round exits to true contenders, Paul could help in some areas of need.

As for the other teams Mannix named, the connection makes sense. Paul has ties to Los Angeles, and both LA teams could be in the market for a point guard depending on what happens with their own free agents. Boston could use playmaking help, and Miami could look for some minor upgrades if they fall short in this Finals series vs. the Denver Nuggets.

Chris Paul will likely have some options if he does indeed enter free agency.
