Speaking with the media on Monday, Houston Rockets forward Dillon Brooks opened up about his move from the Memphis Grizzlies. When asked why he decided to join the Rockets after spending his entire career in Memphis, Brooks was honest and said it was an opportunity to have a fresh start.

"It was a good new start for me," Brooks said. "Being with young guys, trying to change the narrative of the team, I like challenges. I felt that as well, them having Udoka there, he could help me grow as a ball player and as a person."

Brooks also compared this Houston Rockets team to the young Grizzlies team he was on when they were up and coming, saying, "I feel like it's exactly the same team from 3-4 years ago. Jalen is like Ja Morant. Jabari is like Jaren. Young guys that can expand their games to be the best in the league."

Brooks hopes he can bring his leadership and defensive presence to this Rockets group, which certainly could use both. One of the worst teams on the NBA over the last two seasons, the Rockets needed some new direction. While the additions of Brooks and Fred VanVleet will not make Houston a contender, they will make them more competitive, which is a start.

For Brooks, he is excited for the new opportunity.
