Canada defeated USA in the FIBA World Cup bronze medal game on Saturday, but former Memphis Grizzlies teammates Jaren Jackson Jr. and Dillon Brooks did not get to face off. While Brooks was the star of the game, finishing with 39 points, Jackson was unavailable due to illness.

Speaking with reporters after the game, Brooks shared his reaction to Jackson missing the game, saying, "I really wanted to play against Jaren Jackson... I don't know what happened to him, I hope he's alright... I love playing against Jaren. It's just the Memphis connection. I've been talking about this since the season. First it was Santi [Aldama] with Spain. It's good to play against guys you worked with for two years."

While Brooks was disappointed he didn't get to play against his former Grizzlies teammate, he was certainly pleased with the outcome of the game. Finishing with 39 points, Brooks led Canada to a bronze medal finish, and sent Team USA home with nothing to show for their FIBA World Cup run.

Embracing the villain role, Brooks was able to play his best game when Canada needed it most. Knocking off a USA team that proved to be a major disappointment, Canada was able to salvage their run after some tough games as well. Behind a monster offensive showing from Dillon Brooks, Canada took home bronze.
