Following their loss to the Boston Celtics, the Memphis Grizzlies announced that Jake LaRavia and Kenneth Lofton Jr. had both been assigned to the G-League Memphis Hustle. As the Grizzlies included in their announcement, both players will be recalled for the next Grizzlies game, which is on Wednesday against the Houston Rockets.

The Grizzlies have been doing this quite a bit with players like LaRavia and Lofton, as they need bodies at the NBA level due to all of the injuries they have dealt with, but they also want these players to get more meaningful playing time at the G-League level.

This is a tough situation to navigate for the Grizzlies, because their injury situation has created a need for rotation players at the NBA level, but the team doesn't feel like some of their younger players are ready for big minutes. That said, both Lofton and LaRavia have seen minutes in the NBA this year, including Lofton playing 13 minutes vs. the Celtics on Sunday night, finishing with 6 points, 2 rebounds, and 1 assist.

Even if the Grizzlies do plan on using Lofton and LaRavia at the NBA level for sporadic minutes, the team wants to make sure they are getting consistent playing time as well, which is why both players have been sent up and down quite a bit to start the year.
