Grizzlies Announce Roster Move After Loss to Lakers
Following their loss to the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday night, the Memphis Grizzlies announced that Jake LaRavia had been recalled from the Memphis Hustle. With the G-League season underway, this is when players like LaRavia often get sent back and forth from the NBA to the G-League.
These transactions are usually based upon both team's schedules, as organizations look for when it makes the most sense for a player to be with the NBA squad and when it makes sense for them to stay in the G-League. For LaRavia, the Grizzlies certainly want him gettin consistent reps, which he will have more opportunity for in the G-League; however, with so many injuries to the Grizzlies' roster, there are increased opportunities opening up at the NBA level.
Already without Ja Morant, Steven Adams, and Brandon Clarke to begin the season, the Grizzlies have since lost Derrick Rose for multiple weeks, and have had injuries pop up for both Luke Kennard and Marcus Smart. The Kennard and Smart injuries are recent, and the expected timetable for either is not entirely clear, but it is another unfortunate case of Memphis losing key rotation players.
While LaRavia may not play big minutes even in the absence of some of these players, he should get an opportunity to see the floor, which is something he will look to take advantage of.
