Grizzlies Starter Suffers Unexpected Minor Injury
Grizzlies fans who were clamoring to see Marcus Smart play with the team may have to wait a little longer to see the new star join the roster.
According to a Grizzlies spokesperson, Marcus Smart will not practice in preseason open practice due to minor abdominal soreness. He will not miss any regular season time, and the Memphis Grizzlies are just being cautious with the preseason. The original report was revealed by Damichael Cole of Memphis News.
Grizzlies fans may feel extra worried about the news because of what happened with Steven Adams' injury, but this isn't anything to be concerned about right now. If Smart's injury is something that'll keep him out of regular season time, then it'll be a situation worth worrying about.
As it stands, the Memphis Grizzlies are on a path to recovery and have a full roster for the regular season. Steven Adams hasn't quite fully recovered himself to play in a basketball game yet, as he stated himself, but he's on the correct path. The only player who is currently scheduled to miss an undetermined amount of injury time is Brandon Clarke due to Achilles' recovery. Ja Morant will also miss significant early season time due to his suspension.
Make no mistake, the start of the season for the Memphis Grizzlies has the potential to be bumpy without both Ja Morant and Brandon Clarke. However, this team has always shown itself to find a way to survive, and that's what they'll have to do again.
