In this story:

ESPN has been revealing their annual top-100 NBA players for the new season, and Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant is ranked 35th. While ESPN highlighted Morant’s off the court issues and his 25-game suspension as reasons for this low ranking, it feels like a massive overreaction. Seeing this, Morant put ESPN on notice by essentially telling them to stay on that side:

Determined to prove all of his doubters wrong this season, Morant will have an uphill battle to climb after missing the first 25 games. This suspension will automatically disqualify Morant from All-NBA consideration due to the new minimum games played requirement, but he and the Grizzlies are focused on much more than individual honors this season.

After a disappointing first round exit a year ago, the Grizzlies feel they have addressed some of their biggest weaknesses entering this season. Adding more leadership, experience, and defense, the Grizzlies will enter this season with an improved roster. How far this takes them remains to be seen, but one thing is certain: The Grizzlies will have a motivated Ja Morant on game 26.

Motivated to prove his own doubters wrong while also leading the Grizzlies to a deep playoff run, Morant could have a very productive season even despite his suspension. If the star point guard returns in great form, Memphis could be a force in the West.
