Ja Morant Shows Love to Dillon Brooks After Shocking Announcement
It was reported by Shams Charania of The Athletic on Tuesday morning that the Memphis Grizzlies will not be bringing Dillon Brooks back under any circumstances this summer. Brooks, who is set to hit free agency, has been with the Grizzlies since 2017, but is now expected to play elsewhere next season.
Amidst this news dropping, Grizzlies star Ja Morant showed love to Dillon Brooks on his Instagram story:
In his report about Brooks and the Grizzlies, Charania wrote, "The Memphis Grizzlies have informed pending unrestricted free agent Dillon Brooks that he will not be brought back under any circumstances, league sources tell The Athletic. After his tumultuous end to the season, Brooks was told about the Grizzlies’ decision to move on in exit meetings with team officials in recent days, those sources said. Memphis and Brooks discussed in exit meetings that it’s best for both sides to have a fresh start, sources added."
While it ended poorly, Brooks did have some great moments with the Grizzlies, and was their longest tenured player. He will now have an opportunity to explore free agency, and it will be interesting to see where he draws interest from. His series against the Lakers was a rough one, and it makes sense why the Grizzlies feel it is best for both sides to move forward without one another.
