Marcus Smart Opens Up About Relationship With Jayson Tatum

Marcus Smart has no beef with anyone on the Celtics

Even though Marcus Smart is no longer a member of the Boston Celtics and was blindsided by a trade, he still has nothing but love for everyone on the team.

Smart spoke with Gary Washburn of the Boston Globe, where he opened up about what his relationship is still like with Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown. There were some that may have thought Smart had bad blood with the young stars after years of being their mentor, but that's not the case at all.

“Jayson and Jaylen are my brothers for life," Smart said to Washburn. "My mom passed away, JB was actually one of the people on that plane that came to Dallas to the funeral. I just want to shut all rumors now that me and JB had beef. I have no beef with anybody with the Celtics.”

While NBA players already have a special level of camaraderie with each other, there's a different level of bond when someone is there for you after a parent dying. The brotherhood between Jaylen Brown and Marcus Smart will remain eternal after that moment, and will last beyond anything in basketball.

Now, Smart has a new chapter in his life. One where the entire city of Memphis will welcome him with open arms, and he'll be the highest level of mentor he's ever been in his career.
