Marcus Smart Reacts to Debut With Memphis Grizzlies
It may not have been the debut Marcus Smart wanted with the Grizzlies, but Memphis' newest player is definitely happy to be with the team.
"It felt good," Smart said about his debut. "Definitely wasn't the result we wanted, but I've never seen a championship won or come close to winning the first game. We've got 81 games left, it's part of it, been doing this for a long time."
In his debut, Marcus Smart put up 17 points, 3 assists, and 2 steals, but he had 5 turnovers. Despite the loss, Smart was still a +3 from the field. This entire beginning portion of the season is going to be a feeling-out process for Marcus Smart, and he's very aware of it.
"It's a difference when you're playing against Memphis, and then when you're actually playing for Memphis," Smart said. "It felt great to be out there with those guys and just kinda get a rhythm with them. These guys have been playing together for a minute, me and D-Rose, we're just to find our niche... Overall, it was a great feeling."
It's not going to be an easy time for the Memphis Grizzlies. The team is without Ja Morant, Santi Aldama, Brandon Clarke, Steven Adams, and potentially Luke Kennard. If that wasn't enough, their next opponent is the defending champion Denver Nuggets on Friday.
