Memphis Grizzlies Coach Reveals Marcus Smart Injury Update
Marcus Smart suffered a left ankle injury during the Grizzlies' game against the Lakers that kept him from returning to the game. During the postgame press conference, Grizzlies head coach Taylor Jenkins provided an injury update on Smart.
Jenkins stated that Smart would be re-evaluated this week on his injury, and it was also revealed that Smart was in a walking boot as he was exiting the arena.
It's not a great sign that Smart was in a walking boot, so one could expect him to miss at least a few games. When Clippers forward Terance Mann suffered an ankle sprain that put him in a walking boot, he missed six games. While the severity of Smart's injury hasn't been determined, fans should definitely expect him to miss more than one or two games.
Smart's injury couldn't have come at a worse time for the Memphis Grizzlies. The team is already missing Ja Morant, Brandon Clarke, Derrick Rose, and Steven Adams. Not only that, but they have the worst record in the Western Conference with a 2-9 record.
At first, it felt like the goal of the Memphis Grizzlies was to survive with a decent record while Ja Morant was out due to a suspension. Day after day, the injuries continue to compile for the Grizzlies, and now it's starting to wonder whether it's worth it.
