Memphis Grizzlies Make Major Injury Update Announcement
The Memphis Grizzlies have desperately missed their big man Steven Adams. For over a season, fans weren't 100% sure what was clearly wrong with him. Now, he's officially had surgery on his right PCL.
The Grizzlies revealed an official press release that stated center Steven Adams had undergone successful surgery yesterday. The press release reads as follows:
"Memphis Grizzlies center Steven Adams underwent successful right posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) surgery today.
Adams is expected to make a full recovery ahead of the 2024-25 season. Further updates will be provided as appropriate."
On one end, it's great the Memphis Grizzlies have finally figured out what's been wrong with Steven Adams. His injury since last January felt so shrouded in mystery and felt legitimately never-ending. Hopefully, this is the first step towards an actual recovery.
On the other end, it's incredibly frustrating for the Grizzlies to know that they'll be without their starting center for the entire year. The season just started for the team and they're already drowning in a plethora of injuries. Fortunately, the team signed center Bismack Biyombo at the perfect time - who is a great substitute in this situation. If the Grizzlies had waited just one week later to sign Bismack, they may have lost him to the Clippers since their backup center Mason Plumlee just went down.
Despite being shorthanded, there's nothing the Grizzlies can do but move on and push forward.
