Memphis Grizzlies Reveal Injury Update on Marcus Smart
Grizzlies fans have been eagerly awaiting the debut of their newest key player Marcus Smart, and it looks like the wait may be over soon.
The Memphis Grizzlies have given the newest update on Marcus Smart, and it looks like things are going very well.
“We’ve got four days before our next game, and the ramp-up period is going really well right now,” Grizzlies head coach Taylor Jenkins said. “That soreness we’ve talked about has kind of dissipated. And now, (Smart’s) work rate is up to the level that it needs to be to get him ready for five-on-five play.”
Jenkins revealed that Smart is scheduled to have a high-intensity workout on Monday and will then participate in Tuesday's full practice with the team. The Memphis Grizzlies start their season in nine days on October 25 against the New Orleans Pelicans. Based on Smart's current trajectory, it seems like there's a very good chance he should be available for that game. Smart practicing on Tuesday would give him about eight days to ramp up for game-time activity. If all things go well, that should be enough time.
For now, the Grizzlies have a few days off before the next preseason game against the Milwaukee Bucks on October 20. It will be their final preseason game of the year before starting the regular season against the New Orleans Pelicans.
