In his first career game that did not come in a Memphis Grizzlies jersey, new Houston Rockets forward Dillon Brooks was ejected less than five minutes into the game. Taking what the officials determined was a reckless shot to Daniel Theis, Brooks was ejected after logging just 4:33 of game time.

Brooks had several ejections and flagrant fouls during his time with the Grizzlies, which became part of his identity as an enforcer. While there are times when that enforcer mentality is beneficial, there are also times when it's harmful both for his team and his opponents. Having been involved in plays where opponents were injured, Brooks can at times take things too far when it comes to toeing that line between playing hard and playing reckless.

This play is one that's certainly up for interpretation, as Brooks was coming around a screen, but did hit Theis in a bad spot. Not going to receive the benefit of the doubt because of his reputation, Brooks was ejected without having logged even five minutes in his Rockets debut.

While this is a preseason game, it's still disappointing for Rockets fans to not get their first real look at one of their big offseason signings. Assuming Brooks doesn't have to miss any additional time over this play, he should be back out there for Houston's next game.
