The 2022-23 NBA season has been a disappointment so far for the Atlanta Hawks. Despite trading for Dejounte Murray last summer, the team has shown no signs of progress.

At the All-Star break, Atlanta is one game below .500 and is ranked eighth in the Eastern Conference standings. According to the experts, Atlanta faces an uphill battle just to make it to this year's playoffs. Below are what the current projections look like for Atlanta.

Current Record: 29-30.

ESPN Record Projection & Playoff Chances: 41-41 (44.5%).

FiveThirtyEight Record Projection & Playoff Chances: 41-41 (50%)

Tankathon Remaining Strength of Schedule: 3rd (only behind Philadelphia 76ers and Los Angeles Clippers).

Key Games Remaining: Four games against the Washington Wizards, two games against the Miami Heat, and two games remaining against the Boston Celtics.

It is important to note that the Play-In Tournament is not considered the Playoffs, so Atlanta's chances of seeing some form of the postseason are higher than the numbers above indicate.

Also, games are won and lost on the hardwood, not with algorithms. Atlanta is not yet out of it. Trae Young and Dejounte Murray have had two-thirds of the regular season to gel, and it is possible they will play better down the final stretch of the regular season.
