Miami Heat guard Dwyane Wade is going into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame alongside his favorite player.

Former NBA star Allen Iverson will present Wade when he is inducted Aug. 12 in Springfield, Mass. Wade has repeatedly said Iverson was one of his biggest basketball influences.

Wade said he wore No. 3 in the NBA because of Iverson. They both played a similar style, often sacrificing their bodies on the court. Wade and Iverson also shared a heartfelt moment during a 2020 tribute after the death of Kobe Bryant.

Wade is regarded as the best player in Heat history. He is the franchise's all-time leader scorer, winning three championships. After leaving for 18 months to play for the Chicago Bulls and Cleveland Cavaliers, he returned in 2018 so he could finish his career with the Heat.

He retired in 2019.
