The Miami Heat are likely headed to a spot in the play-in tournament because they are expected to finish between the No. 7 and No. 10 seed.

That doesn't mean the Heat are an underdog in the playoffs. After finishing No. 1 in the Eastern Conference a year ago, they are considered among the most dangerous teams in the postseason.

Vincent Goodwill, national NBA writer for Yahoo! Sports, called the Heat one of the toughest opponents in the East. He cited Jimmy Butler and Erik Spoelstra as the reasons Miami will be a difficult opponent.

"The Heat feel more built for postseason style than most seven seeds, even if the season lays out the inconsistency pretty bare," Goodwill wrote. "Their pace is second-to-last in the NBA and they’re last in scoring despite having three bona fides in the first five. But they’re top 10 in defensive efficiency and they don’t beat themselves, usually."
