Cole Swider Shows Out In Fourth Quarter Of Miami Heat’s Preseason Opener

Miami Heat’s Cole Swider is on an Exhibit 10 contract, but after two standout performances, he is expected to receive a regular-season deal

Miami Heat forward Cole Swider is continuing to impress fans following his 27-point performance in the Heat’s Red, White, and Pink scrimmage earlier this week.

In Miami’s preseason opener against the Charlotte Hornets, Swider scored 17 points, all of which came in the fourth quarter. He played an efficient game, shooting 55.56 percent from three-point range. He along with Tyler Herro helped rally the Heat to a 113-109 win over the Charlotte Hornets.

Swider is another example of the Heat’s ability to scout and develop under the radar players. Gabe Vincent, Max Strus, and Duncan Robinson earned multi-year contracts after spending time in Miami. These players have helped them reach the NBA Finals twice in the past four seasons.

Strus was the Heat’s sharpshooter over the past few seasons, but after multiple prominent performances, Swider could become his replacement. The team lacked three-point shooting last season, as they were among the worst in the league.

With much of the preseason remaining, coach Erik Spoelstra should look to give Swider as much opportunity as possible. He is currently one of five players on an Exhibit 10 deal, but after consistently standing out, he will likely be signed to the regular-season roster.
