Four-Time NBA Champion Andre Iguodala Praises Pat Riley And The Miami Heat
NBA veteran Andre Iguodala barely spent time with the Miami Heat. But his tenure there was enough to be engrained in Heat Culture. In a recent episode of the Gilbert Arenas Show, Iguodala discussed Miami's standards, even for the veteran multi-champion.
"When you go to Miami, if you don't really know what you're getting into, you're in for a rude awakening," Iguodala said. "It's like a culture shock. When you tap into what it is, I always speak highly of it. When I first got there I was like, 'Y'all wildin. Like I got three chips the complete opposite way. So why it gotta be like this?' Once I was in there, we went to the Finals in the bubble and the next year we didn't have such a great year. But I said to myself if I'm ever in a position to run a team, I'm taking like 95 percent of this."
Iguodala praised the Heat for their structure and player accountability.
"You don't hear players get in trouble in Miami," Iguodala said. "That's all you need to know. Who get in trouble? Not that it can't happen, but guys don't really get in trouble down there. In Miami of all places!"
The former Warriors veteran commended president Pat Riley for his commitment to winning and respect to the game.
"Pat got it on lock," Iguodala said. "Pat is like, 'I'm in the business of winning.'"
That culture has led Miami to the most Finals appearances since 2005. Hopefully, they can add another one this season, along with a fourth franchise title.
